A few random pictures from my week.

This weekend...

What a busy, yet productive weekend. We accomplished so much in just two short days. I literally can't remember even sitting down until now!  *yawn*

The happenings...

~ chicken proofed the garden. (almost complete)

~ transplanted 45 tomato seedlings  and started more seed trays. And finished planning out the garden. (running behind schedule)

~ discovered I have a broody hen with no rooster. Not fun trying to turn that around. There is trouble in the hen house for sure! Grrrrr

~ planted lots of flowers around the yard and and pulled weeds.

~ took prom pictures for a friend.

~ made a trip to Home Depot and out to dinner with friends.

~ did some catching up with one of my very best friends. (much needed)

~ countless loads of laundry.

~ rescued four adorable baby bunnies. (2 wks old)

Well, I think that's about it! I'm too tired to remember anything else. Hope your weekend was great!

We have Cabbage

I harvested 7 cabbages today. It's the last of our fall/winter garden. I thought it wouldn't make it! Thankfully we had more rain and a few cold snaps of weather to bring it to head...pun intended.
My husband added another 250 sq ft to our garden today. I'm getting more excited everyday. Can't wait to get things growing in there.

Garden Therapy!

After working an 11 hour day, I came home to the smell of homemade chicken and dumplings coming from the kitchen! It was super yummy! I'm so thankful John likes to cook. I had a few hours of daylight left, so I immediately changed into my garden attire, which always includes my chaco's and a comfy old chambray shirt that was given to me by John's papa. I poured myself a glass of wine and headed outside, where I was greeted by my four little lovely hens. They always put a smile on my face.

After a little 'chicken talk'... I checked on my seedlings. In all, I have about 85 plants up and growing. I get so excited watching it all grow! For me, it's truly great therapy. This weekend, providing the weather is decent, we will be prepping the raised beds to start adding in the "goods". We have a lot of work to do, as we have decided to  expand our garden area. I so look forward to it. We learn more and more each year. I am an avid researcher when it comes to doing anything! Always journaling what works and what doesn't. So, I plan ahead! It's mostly trial and error, and I'm hoping our spring and summer garden is as successful as our fall and winter garden, as I plan to stock up our pantry and freezer!

Hope you all have a great week!

Here is a picture of my new herbal plant of chocolate mint for my kitchen window, (it's wonderful in tea, coffee and desserts!) And a little ceramic bird, a small gift from my mother.

On 'this' Friday

It's 50 degrees here right now. Not what I had hoped for on my extra day off! I'm just about ready to crawl under a warm rock and stay there for another month. But, I have entirely too much to do. And I am determined that today, I will bake SOMETHING! I am on my 3rd cup of hot tea and in desperate need of a shower. (too much info?) The kitchen is sparkling and the laundry is washing! So far, that is about it.

Happy Friday!

A few of my favorite photos from the past month....

A quiet Easter in Jasper

I spent the day with my mama in Jasper on Sunday. We slept late, drank coffee on her porch and prepared and enjoyed an Easter lunch together. And as always, remembered my Granny (my mother's mother) and all of the egg hunts and family gatherings we spent at her farm each Easter. It was such a fun time for everyone. We always had a ridiculous amount of food. My mother is one of ten children, and most of them have children. Can you imagine the food? Can you imagine the amount of boiled easter eggs? It was insanely fun and exciting! During the egg hunts, if you were ever lucky enough to find the "prize egg", you definitely thought you had struck it rich!  (Smile)

In all, it was a quiet, calm and thoughtful day. We enjoyed the food, conversation and memories of the past. And I love that I was able to make another good memory with my sweet mama.
