Cleaning out my closet!

As the decluttering continues in our home, I've finally tackled my dreaded closet. Getting a pile (small mountain really) of clothes to go to our local Goodwill. I've discovered that I have an obsession, one of many obsessions, with anything grey or black. Wow, Am I that boring? Oh well....Atleast the closet is looking great.

Garden in May

It's mid May and the garden is bursting with blooms. I can see the fruit starting to set on the summer squash, cucumbers and eggplant. It's so exciting to watch things grow and change everyday. I am still so amazed when seedlings pop up, and it's a reminder to me that It's a simple life I truly love.

Accomplished

Fridays feeling of being overwhelmed has slowly faded away into exhaustion.
We quickly saw that our garden was over planted! I completely take the blame. Afterall, it was me that decided 25 tomato plants was a good idea. Yes, 25! Which meant building a new raised bed and transplanting the tomato plants.  Also, recently we inherited 9 knock-out roses. All to be transplanted...(sigh). After a trip to The Home Depot, some sawing and building, 2 truckloads of compost, lots of digging, a hail storm, transplanting and planting....(breathe)...We can safely say we are done! Or are we? Are we ever really done? I can atleast rest a little easier. My wonderful, exhausted husband is snoring as I type.

Chickens!

A new found happiness! I never knew chickens could bring so much joy to my life. I remember having chickens growing up and I loved everything about them however, I have a special place in my heart for these four little girls. They definitely make me smile. John and I drink our coffee (almost every Saturday and Sunday morning) outside watching them scratch and peck the grass. A simple little pleasure that is quickly becoming tradition for us. John built an amazing coop for them and I decorated it with a few things from around the house and an old chair (a great roost) I found in a junk pile on the side of the road. Here are a few pictures.
