A little under the weather!

I can't seem to stay well this fall. Starting the 1st of September, I began to get sick with the flu. It lasted two miserable weeks. Apparently, an early season this year for the flu. Not fun at all. Two days ago I noticed a sore throat and congestion coming on. Today I can barely speak. Ugh... Really?

I decided to make homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner. I've  been thinking about it all day. It was better than ever. An easy recipe I've had for years, and one that my family loves.

So I settled in for the night with my handmade vintage sheet pajamas, a handmade vintage afghan, a burning vintage oil lamp given to me by my favorite Aunt, and a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup! A thoughtful night!

An easy Sunday...

Today was a good day. Slow and easy. Up early to drink coffee, let the chickens out to do some free ranging, took a nap, mulched the garden, set out the carrot seedlings, hung laundry out to dry, homemade ham and potato soup for dinner, some mindless tv and now off to bed.

A weekend @ Mexico Beach, FL.

What a wonderful weekend I had @ Mexico Beach, FL. It was a much needed getaway. No schedule. Just a 'lets do whatever' kinda weekend.

Sunsets, early morning sunrise, long walks on the beach, great seafood, a boat ride, search for shells, red wine, a bonfire, new friends and lots of laughs. Perfect!

Full moon and a fall garden!

Last night was a full moon.... The  'hunters moon'. It was absolutely beautiful. I love the energy that the full moon brings. It always drags me outside for a little late night meditation. Candles and incense included. It's quite magical really.

Our fall garden is doing great so far. This year I've planted broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, red mustards, swiss chard, lettuces, peas and carrots. I love to see the seedlings push through the dirt and watch it all grow! It makes all the hard work worth while and always makes my hippie heart happy.

October!

My favorite month has flown by way too fast. I can hardly remember it's beginning or anything we've done. It's a good thing I constantly take pictures. Here is a picture collage of some of the October happenings.

~ Fall garden was planted
~ Started walking/jogging again
~ Chicken time was spent (as always)

Some walk alone.

I'm certain I've mentioned this topic before, but it has been on my mind a lot lately. I'm rapidly approaching 40 and I've just realized the older I get, the more I like to be alone. I don't mean everyday, all day. Not quite that extreme! I like and need alone time. To sit and be quiet, to be still, to be mindful and in the very moment. Listening to and looking at my surroundings. For me, It's a release. A time to reflect and declutter my mind. It's something I desperately need, and I'm better for it. I can remember a time in my life when I NEVER wanted to be alone. I didn't like it at all. And I remember feeling as if I were missing out on something. Now at age 39, I feel like I'm missing out if I don't get my alone time. I crave it. It's become a part of who I am and who I need to be. And so I've learned...."Not all that walk alone are lonely".
... and by the way, that also goes for cows!

Feeling nostalgic on this last day of September and full moon!

Last chance to squeeze in one last post this month....

I keep thinking about the sound of my granny Newsome's slamming door on her old back porch. Hoping and dreaming that one day, I too, will have that @ my dream farmhouse! The sound that was once annoying to her, I'm sure, is now a wonderful memory for me. One that I would love to hear again real soon. I know in my heart it will happen! And I can hardly wait! Happy full moon!

Peace and love.
